Abstract:
For the problems of how to construct new liberal arts and its relationship with other disciplines in the development of new liberal arts, this paper combs the history of the research on the construction of new liberal arts, analyzes a series of relevant research results, discusses various questions that may arise from this subject, and studies the "new" connotation and extension of the construction of new liberal arts with the art discipline as example. The research believes that the objective of constructing new liberal arts is not simply to break traditions and build new rules. Instead, it should aim to uphold the principle of integrity and innovation, assimilate the academic achievements from both liberal arts and science subjects on the basis of its own academic structure, find commonalities between different disciplines in terms of knowledge structure and reasoning, adapt to the needs of the development of the times, cultivate talents with forward thinking mindset in humanities and social sciences, and make preparations in the academic subject and talent training for China's liberal arts construction to advance to the next level. The new liberal arts have endowed the traditional liberal arts with new interpretation paths and mindsets, repositioned the role of traditional liberal arts, enabled more academic ideas based on the practice with Chinese characteristics, and facilitated the construction of Chinese schools of thought. For the art discipline, it is particularly important to master the essence of artistic aesthetics in the principle of integrity and innovation, continue to refer to and borrow from other disciplines, and meet the expectations of people for enjoyment and improvement both physically and mentally.
