Abstract:
To study the political changes in Tang and Song dynasties and the evolution of perceptive geographical imagery, this article uses literature review method to systematically studies the changes in cultural images of Guanzhong and Qinling area in poetry of Tang and Song dynasties. Study shows that the Guanzhong area in the Tang and Song Dynasties experienced great political changes from the imperial capital to the "previous capital". The geographical image of Guanzhong in Tang and Song poetry also revealed a different cultural perception. Chang’an in Tangdu was not only the capital of the empire, but also the destination of countless literati to realize their political dreams. Therefore, there were poems of Chang’s generation titled Chang’an. The poems of Chang’an and Guanzhong played a considerably important role, which depicted and admired the magnificent atmosphere of the area. In the Song Dynasty, the capital was moved eastward, and Chang’an-Guanzhong lost its status as a national political center. The large number of historical relics of the Zhou, Qin, Han and Tang Dynasties in the Guanzhong Plain triggered the sorrow in many souls of the Song Dynasty. The Chang’an visits to ancient poems in the Song Dynasty always left people mourning about the vicissitudes. In the Tang and Song poems, the Qinling mountain was considered the career watershed of the scholar-officials in the Tang Dynasty. It was a symbol of hermit culture in the Northern Song Dynasty. While in the Southern Song Dynasty, it became a geographic symbol for the patriots to conduct Northern Expedition and the restoration of the Central Plains. The analysis of the changes of the Guanzhong and Qinling cultural images in the Tang and Song poems is undoubtedly of great significance for understanding the historical status and cultural significance of a traditional political center with important political and geographical significance.
