Abstract:
There are mainly three routes in Southwestern Silk Road. One is from Chengdu to India via today’ Xichang, Dali, and Burma, one is from Chengdu to Burma via Dali and into the seaway along Irrawaddy River, and the other is from Chengdu to the north of Burma via Yibin, Kunming, and Mengzi and into the seaway. Ancient China dynasties all paid attention to the operation of Southwestern Silk Road, especially Han, Tang, and Yuan dynasties. The original intention of governors is to provide convenience for overseas countries’ paying tribute, and dispatching envoys. With the activating of commodity economy, Southwestern Silk Road became an important international commercial road.
