- Abstract:
- In order to study the portrayal of Huang Emperor by ZOU Rong and CHEN Tian-hua, thinkers and revolutionists in the late Qing Dynasty, this paper explored the image construction of Huang Emperor and historical and cultural significance, the national concept and ideological characteristics, and the cultural connotation and value of Huang Emperor. It is suggested that ZOU Rong and CHEN Tianhua have a strong sense of the times and mission in the portrayal of Huang Emperor. They integrated the culutreand civilization of Huang Emperor in striving for national independence and democratic progress. In addition, they criticize feudal autocratic monarchy system, and propogada and popularize the progressive ideas of democracy, republicanism, independence, freedom and equality. By mixing pluralism thoughts, they express their prospects for the nation’s future, making the Huang Emperor culture display new vitality.
