Abstract:
Nigeria is rich in oil resources, and China’s energy demand is strong, that’s why energy cooperation is the core issue between the two countries. Although the two countries have made achievements in energy cooperation, there are still some problems. In order to strengthen the energy cooperation between China and Nigeria, make China obtain a stable and high quality oil and gas supply and ensure energy security, literature analysis is used, in addition to reading monographs and periodicals related to the subject matter, information published on the website of relevant governments and organization of petroleum exporting countries (OPEC) was also referred, and the newspaper electronic version at home and abroad was used as the material of analysis. It is found that in today’s global integration, the energy relations between China and Nigeria are affected by the influential countries in the world, especially in the US, Europe and India. The energy companies in Europe and the United States have basically monopolized the oil industry in Nigeria, and India is already the largest buyer of Nigeria crude oil, which has squeezed the share of China’s oil imports and caused more intense competition in energy projects than before. The results show that the key investment in infrastructure construction in Nigeria should be continued to attract Nigeria to join the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank as soon as possible; to embed Nigeria in “the belt and road” development, Chinese oil enterprises should take the initiative to cooperate to help Nigeria build refineries and develop energy industry to promote the use of petroleum RMB in Nigeria; however, Nigeria’s own internal political situation, economic situation, investment environment and security issues will have a negative impact on the development of energy relationship between China and Nigeria. They are also the problem that Chinese enterprises should pay attention to in their energy cooperation in Nigeria.
