The authors in this paper collect all the necessary documents from the historical books to study the material life in the imperial time from clothing, food, dwelling and travelling. The analysis shows that the emperors in that time had already entered the civilized life in the above four aspects, which indicates their social and political significance and their important influence on the social progress and the formation of civilization in Chinese history.
