Abstract:
There are a lot of animal idioms in both English and Chinese.Their modes of th- inking and cultural backgrounds are different,so the implied meanings of the same animal are possibly different. On one hand, their conceptual meanings are the same but pragmatic implications are different. On the other hand, some animal names have rich pragmatic implications in the original language but not in the target language, so they cannot produce equal image association.
