Abstract:
The concept of the unity of nature and man has long represented the prevailing view ofnature during the era of agricultural civilization and served as a fundamental principle foraddressing the relationship between humans and the natural world. However, in the context ofan accelerated society——characterized by rapid technological advancements, economic growth,and the increasing pace of life——this traditional concept, that is, the idea of harmoniouscoexistence between man and nature, faces new challenges and opportunities. This paperinvestigates the core ideas behind the unity of nature and man and assesses its potentialrelevance in addressing modern societal challenges. By combining literature review and analyticalresearch, the study explores the natural rhythms and social foundations underlying this concept,the acceleration of modern society and the resulting “man-nature contradictions”, and thenegative consequences of these contradictions within accelerated societies, so as to promote theintegration and development of the concept of the unity of nature and man in modern society.The findings suggest that while the concept of the unity of nature and man remains somewhatapplicable in modern society, its practical implementation is hindered by the fast pace andintense competition of contemporary life. The study concludes that achieving this harmony willrequire comprehensive adjustments in policies, education, and social culture. Only throughcollective efforts from both society and individuals can the concept of the unity of nature andman become truly effective in modern times.
