Abstract:: ZHANG Zai‘s disciples made appropriate comments on ZHANG Zai’s thought in early times. CHENG Hao, CHENG Yi and ZHU Xi interpreted and positioned it from the point of Neo-Confucianism,which laid the basic cognition foundation for later scholars. ZHANG Zai‘s thought attracted attention of scholars believing in Xin Xue thought, but the exploration and uplifting the connotation of ZHANG Zai’s Qi Xue thought in Ming and Qing dynasties, leaded to the tendency of Neo-Confucianism‘s regression to ZHANG Zai’s thought. In modern times, scholars getting rid of the traditional concepts or set pattern of Neo-Confucianism, constantly make systematic explanation of ZHANG Zai‘s thought. Its various connotations get wide attention of scholars both at home and abroad.
