Abstract:
Based on the exposition of the relationship between the prime minister and the imperial examination in Tang Dynasty, this paper reveals the main content of imperial examinations and the influence of the prime minister on the imperial examination and official admission. Imperial examination system was an important political system and also one of the vital ways to choose officers in Tang Dynasty. The content of the imperial examination system, rich and complex, had a long process of evolution. Due to the different reasons such as learning virtue, origin, and political views, prime ministers elected by imperial examinations showed different attitudes toward this system. However, many prime ministers were directly or indirectly involved in or intervened in the imperial examination and official admission.
