Abstract:

The authors in the paper analyze the reasons and influence of witchcraft disaster in west Han Dynasty through a lot of historical documents. The results show that the witchcraft disaster was the product of the social contradictions in the west Han Dynasty and it had great influence on the politics, economy and military during the Emperor Hanwu time. That was also the reason why the Emperor Hanwu paid great cost to administrate his country. Of course, it has seriously affected the construction of academy and ideology.
