Abstract:
To explore funding sources and debts of modern China's railway construction, the paper, through literature research and statistical methods, discusses the formation and arrangement of Longhai Railway debts. The result shows that Longhai Railway debts were a helpless option under the lack of capital in modern China, and a long-term nightmare which could not escape, but it was effective in promoting the extension of the railway. The authors also find that at that time the continuity and phase coexisted, and the domestic and foreign debts developed simultaneously. However, the model for jointly construction of railway with both internal and external capital was formed, gradually promoting the regression of railway debt thought in modern China.
